The Glamorgan pottery was commenced by George Haynes, adjacent to the pre-existing premises of the Cambrian Pottery, the owners of which had fallen out with Haynes prior to commencement of his new Glamorgan pottery business. The Glamorgan pottery commenced business in 1814 and continued until 1838.
The distinctive hand painted reticulated plates were an unusual product for the Glamorgan. Little hand painted work was produced by the company. These reticulated plates were more or less the exception. It may well be that they were produced from 1814, as many of them bear the earliest Baker, Bevans and Irwin Mark.
The Cambrian property started producing its own arcaded plates in the period 1817 to 24.
There are minor differences in the form of Cambrian and Glamorgan pottery arcaded plates. The Cambrian has a greater number of reticulations and its plates are slightly wider. In addition, the basketwork is slightly between the two companies. This piece has the smaller number of reticulations and smaller size and is, therefore, attributable to the Glamorgan Pottery.
