Description.
A fine quality, Mary Gregory-style blown-glass decanter, of art nouveau vintage-c.1890-1910. The pre-war pieces, such as this, were made, predominantly by German artisans, who were often the descendants of generations of glassmakers, to very high production standards. after World War II the various glass manufacturers, all German owned, were taken over by the Czech state and production standards collapsed, following the removal of the German workmen and owners. This, however, is a handmade, hand-blown piece with the delightful imperfections that go with such high-quality items.
Double-fired enamel image of of a child clutching a goblet. The enamel decoration is not cut away, but built up, with double-firing in the pre-war style. The piece is hand-blown and there is, therefore, a broken and unpolished pontil to the base. Incised numeral 409, written in continental style. Almost certainly of Bohemian origin. Fine ribbed applied handle. Original stopper.
Condition.
In very fine condition. Wear to the gilding around the rim of the decanter and some losses to the enamel decoration, all to be expected. The usual hand blown glass minor imperfections and occlusions.
Dimensions.
28cm in height
We do not offer combined postage as the figure we charge reflect the time taken to pack and source packaging material, which is incredibly time-consuming. Ultimately, it is the combined price which reflects the true cost.

We use recycled packaging. It helps our environmental footprint, but does not necessarily look very pretty!
